Great Britain, Aston Villa, Jonny Wilkinson and Martin Laird all celebrate good weeks

It's been another action-packed week of sport around the globe, Great Britain's Davis Cup team defied the odds to come back against Russia, Villa boosted their Premier League survival prospects while Jonny Wilkinson rolled back the years in the Heineken Cup.

Bad Week

Premier League - QPR
The Londoners are now staring relegation in the face after missing a golden opportunity to give their survival hopes a much-needed shot in the arm with victory over Wigan Athletic on Sunday. Harry Redknapp's side overcame the first-half dismissal of Bobby Zamora to keep the visitors at bay and they even forged in front late on through Loic Remy, a goal that looked like giving the home side all three points. Just when it looked like the Rs would beat a relegation rival, up stepped Shaun Maloney to drill home a last-gasp free-kick and earn the Latics a share of the spoils. QPR sit seven points behind fourth-from-bottom Sunderland with six games left in the season.
Rugby league - Salford City Reds
Salford had a week to forget after failing to pick up any points against the Bradford Bulls or the Widnes Vikings. The City Reds gave as good as they got earlier in the week against the Bulls before being hammered over the weekend. Widnes were last season's whipping boys, but Denis Betts' men are made of sterner stuff this time around. Salford were quietly confident of returning to Manchester with the points, however, they were outscored by 10 tries to four. Both Rhys Hanbury and Cameron Phelps helped themselves to hat-tricks as Alan Hunte's men stayed 13th in the Super League table, two points clear of rock bottom Castleford Tigers.
Tennis - Heather Watson
Heather Watson is facing several weeks out of the game after being diagnosed with glandular fever. The 20-year-old has been struggling training and playing matches and will now take a break from the game in order to rest and recover before returning to the women's tour. Watson, who has surrendered her British No 1 spot to Laura Robson, will be hoping time out from playing tennis will enable her to return and come back stronger than ever.

Mixed week

Ryan Mania
It proved a tale of two days for Grand National-winning rider Ryan Mania. On Saturday he rode Auroras Encore to glory at Aintree only to suffer a horror fall at Hexham less than 24 hours later. Mania, 23, was taken by air ambulance to hospital in Newcastle following the fall on his return to action after winning the National. Mania is now set to spend a second night in hospital while he recovers from his neck and back injuries.
