The hot form of Chile international Alexis Sanchez since arriving at Arsenal has amazed former Gunners hero Ray Parlour.

The ex-England and Arsenal midfielder has even likened the 25-year-old, £32million summer signing to Uruguay's Luis Suarez.

Parlour, speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Tuesday morning, said: "What an amazing player. I didn't realise he'd be this good.

"I watched him in the World Cup for Chile and you saw the potential.

"You're always hoping for new signings coming into the Premier League, who are not used to the Premier League, that they can hit the ground running - like Diego Costa's done at Chelsea.

"We knew Cesc Fabregas could do it because he's done it before, but certainly Sanchez, he's come in and it really suits him, the Premier League - he's quick, he's hustle-bustle, he's been kicked a few times, he's got straight back up, he's chasing balls down.

"I think he's the nearest I've seen to Suarez - the work-rate. I always look at players when they're on the ball, great to see them turn and twist, score goals and set chances up, but I like to see a player off the ball as well, working so hard for his team, and certainly he's done that this season. And Suarez, that was exactly what he did last year for Liverpool."

Arsenal will be hoping Sanchez - who has scored 10 goals in his last 12 games, and four in the last two - can continue making a big impact in his first season for the Gunners.

Parlour also praised Wenger's other summer signings, 19-year-old defender Calum Chambers, who has quickly earned a place in the Gunners' starting line-up, and striker Danny Welbeck, who hit a hat-trick against Galatasaray.

"Chambers is developing into a great player - scored his first goal against Burnley which was great for him," said Parlour.

"Welbeck for me has been fantastic as well, his work-rate, and he's got a few goals this season, especially in the Champions League at home against Galatasaray."
