Patrick Vieira says PSG could be very dangerous at the Etihad next week

Patrick Vieira speaks as he is introduced as New York City FC's new head coach.

Patrick Vieira thinks it would be premature to describe Manchester City as favourites for their Champions League quarter-final tie with Paris Saint-Germain.

City emerged from a frenetic first leg in Paris on Wednesday night with a 2-2 draw, thanks to Fernandinho's 72nd-minute equaliser.

And many pundits think that, with a pair of away goals in the bank, the Premier League side now have the edge.

But Vieira, who ended his glittering playing career with City, says the tie remains wide open, pointing to PSG's impressive 2-1 win at Chelsea in the second leg of their last-16 tie.

The quarter-final will be decided next Tuesday and Vieira said: "You can't say Manchester City are favourites.

"I think Paris Saint-Germain, the way they played against Chelsea in the round before, they showed they are capable of playing the perfect game away from home.

"I think it is still open for both teams."

Lampard has been bothered by a nagging calf injury and the former Chelsea man will not be available for Sunday's game against Chicago.

"Frank will not be fit for the weekend," said Vieira. "We are a couple of days away from his comeback.

"When you are talking about players of his calibre, it is always good and better to have them available to play games.

"I feel for him. He's a real champion and he is going through a difficult period, because of course he wants to be on the field, he wants to train and help the team. It's not easy for him."
