Southend captain John White has signed a new two-year contract.
The 29-year-old defender moved to Roots Hall permanently in the summer of 2013 after a successful loan spell and has made 99 appearances for the club, the last of which was their play-off final win over Wycombe in May.
"I'm really pleased to have agreed a new deal," he told the Shrimpers' website.
"It's been great here since I came and the last two years have been successful with a play-off finish and then promotion at Wembley last season.
"The fans have always been good to me, my family and I are settled in the area and I love playing and captaining the Club.
"Hopefully there can be more success over the next couple of years too."
