Corinne Yorston has left UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-finalists Bristol Academy to join FA WSL 2 side Yeovil Town Ladies.
Yorston leaves Bristol after spending a total of eight years with the club and has captained the Vixens since the inaugural season of the WSL in 2010.
Yeovil manager Jamie Sherwood said Yorston is the biggest signing in the history of the club, adding the 31-year-old has a key role to play in helping his side’s youngsters develop.
“Corinne is an excellent addition to our squad and this illustrates the ambition we have for this coming season,” Sherwood said.
“To have a player with such a winning mentality, attention to detail and experience will be invaluable to us both on and off the pitch.
“We truly believe that everyone within the club can benefit from this signing. She is a role model to our younger players within our youth, intermediate and development teams. In addition, her know how and her approach will help the senior team dressing room immensely.
“Yorston will go straight into our first team squad that are preparing to play in the third round of The FA Women’s Cup, a competition she knows well and a competition we have set targets for and aim to achieve in.”
Yorston is the fifth major player to leave Bristol during the close season following the departures of Laura Del Rio, Natalia Pablos-Sanchon, Jemma Rose and Natasha Harding.
Bristol manager Dave Edmondson said: "I am disappointed to be losing Corinne, she has been a valuable member of BAWFC, both on and off the pitch for a number of years. She is a big character and will be missed.
“At this stage of her career, a new challenge is what she feels she needs and we support her in her decision."
Meanwhile, Notts County Ladies have continued their rebuild ahead of the new season with the acquisition of defender Fern Whelan from Everton.
The centre-back, who spent more than nine years with Everton, joins fellow England internationals Laura Bassett, Rachel Williams and Alex Greenwood who moved to the Lady Pies earlier this month.
England youth international Jessica Sigsworth and Republic of Ireland striker have also joined County ahead of the 2015 season
