Don Cowie was a thorn in the side of his former club at Tynecastle as Hearts took all three points with an emphatic 5-1 victory over Inverness CT.
The Highlanders went into the match sitting at the foot of the Premiership and soon found themselves trailing when Cowie played a one-two with Conor Sammon and curled a shot into the bottom corner.
Hearts doubled their lead 10 minutes later when Tony Watt ran at the Inverness defence and laid the ball off to Cowie whose cross was headed home by Sammon.
In between the two goals, Sammon flicked the ball on for Watt to race clear on goal but his effort was saved by Owain Fon Williams.
Cowie struck his second goal of the day after Watt and Sammon combined to create the opportunity 90 seconds after the break.
Sam Nicholson then added the fourth with 11 minutes remaining, beating Williams with a low, crisp finish.
And a minute later Nicholson struck again when Inverness were opened up with a pass from Cowie,
The visitors pulled a goal back three minutes from time when Ross Draper ghosted into the box to fire home.
Aberdeen finally earned their first win of the campaign as they beat Partick 2-1 at Pittodrie thanks to goals from Niall McGinn and Miles Storey.
Thistle created an early opportunity at a corner when Danny Devine set up Sean Welsh but he put his effort wide of the target.
The Dons responded and Tomas Cerny had to be alert to turn a powerful shot from Peter Pawlett behind for a corner.
And the visitors survived another scare when Mark Reynolds, picked out Adam Rooney with a long pass and the striker set up Pawlett, whose low shot was again saved by Cerny.
But the Thistle goalkeeper could do nothing to stop Aberdeen taking the lead on 28 minutes when McGinn curled a free-kick from distance into the Cerny's top-right corner for his team's first goal of the season.
Storey doubled the advantage on 58 minutes when he took advantage of some sloppy defending by the visitors to tap home.
Thistle then had Welsh (87) dismissed for dissent on a second yellow card shortly before substitute Kris Doolan headed wide from close range.
But the visitors did pull a goal back in the first minute of stoppage-time when Chris Erskine beat Joe Lewis with a powerful drive.
Irish striker Liam Boyce scored both goals as Ross County beat Kilmarnock 2-0 at Dingwall
Boyce started and completed the move which led to County taking the lead on 29 minutes, when he linked up with Michael Gardyne and burst into the box to fire home.
Kilmarnock were finding Boyce hard to handle and, after the break, he combined to set up Christopher Routis, but the Frenchman sent his volley over.
And he struck his second on 74 minutes when Alex Schalk latched on to a Scott Fox clearance and teed up the striker to slot past Jamie MacDonald.
Boyce could have completed a hat-trick a minute later when he raced in on goal and, although he beat MacDonald, his effort went wide of the target.
