Former Barcelona midfielder expected to replace Montella

Luis Enrique remains in talks with Roma over the possibility of succeeding Vincenzo Montella after stepping down as coach of Barcelona B. Roma are expected to replace Montella this summer, with Luis Enrique a favourite for the post after it emerged that Didier Deschamps is set to remain at Marseille. The 41-year-old former Spain midfielder revealed last week he had spoken to the Serie A club, and Barca coach Pep Guardiola - a former Roma player - has advised him it would be a "very good option". Luis Enrique told www.fcbarcelona.cat: "Pep and I have spoken of this and he has told me it is a serious club and that it would be a very good option.

Hobbies

"We are negotiating and, since the negotiations are ongoing, I will not say anything until everything is concluded." Luis Enrique refused to confirm whether he would end up coaching in Italy or Spain, or even "not training anywhere and devoting time to my family and hobbies". He said: "I speak of Roma [only] because the club has declared it. "What I will not do is to respond to journalistic speculation. I'm still in negotiations, and we want to take them with the utmost discretion."
