Morgan De Sanctis is free to join Sevilla after terminating his contract with Italian side Udinese.
The 30-year-old keeper, who had attracted interest from Sunderland, has cancelled his deal with the Serie A side under Article 17 of Fifa's rules.
Under the regulations, the twice-capped shot-stopper will have to pay compensation to Udinese for the remaining three years of his contract.
De Sanctis, previously a target of Manchester United, played 194 games for Udinese after joining them from Juventus in 1999.
He will be unveiled as the Uefa Cup holders' first signing of the summer at a press conference at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium on Tuesday.
