Manager steps down after short time at club
Antonio Conte has stepped down as manager of struggling Serie A side Atalanta, after just three months in charge.
The Nerazzurri are currently on a terrible run of form and have slipped to second bottom in the Italian top-flight, with just 13 points from 17 games.
After Atalanta's 2-0 home defeat against Napoli on Wednesday, supporters protested against the manager outside the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia.
Conte, a former Juventus captain and Italy international, tried to present his resignation on Wednesday night but it was rejected by the club's board of directors.
However, the 40-year-old announced on Thursday that he has become the second coach this season to leave the struggling team.
Atalanta's next match is a trip to in-form Palermo in Serie A on Sunday at Renzo Barbera.
