Mansiz back in Turkey

Ilhan Mansiz is aiming to reclaim his place in the Turkey team after joining Ankaragucu.

The striker was one of the stars of the last World Cup, with his exploits helping Turkey to reach the semi-finals in the Far East.

But his career has been on a downward spiral ever since and he had his contract terminated by Hertha Berlin last month.

He has now returned to Turkey in an attempt to resurrect his career after signing a 12-month deal with Ankaragucu.

Mansiz is determined to put his career back on track and feels he can achieve this with Ankaragucu, who finished 13th in the Turkish Super Lig table last season.

"I've been away from football for one-and-a-half years," commented Mansiz.

"The president and the club have a lot of trust in me.

"My aim is to get back into the national team and I think Ankaragucu is the right way to go about it."
