In-form Brazilian plots international recall

Middlesbrough's Fabio Rochemback still holds out some hope of earning a recall to the Brazil squad. The 25-year-old has not featured for his country since 2004 when he was an unused sub in their match against Republic of Ireland in Dublin. Rochemback was with Sporting Lisbon then, and has not been called up since his move to Teesside. After struggling to make an immediate impact with Boro, Rochemback is now producing the sort of performances which earned him a move to Barcelona.

Hope

"I am just trying to do my best and hope the opportunity will arise again," he told Globo Esporte. Rochemback feels that having Brazilian internationals like Elano and Gilberto in England helps his own chances. "From my point of view it does [help]. Having Brazilian football evident in England will always help but I know only my work will get me selected." Many South American players struggle to settle in England, but Rochemback is adapting well to the North East. "It is always difficult in the beginning, I have been here two years now and I am accustomed to a quiet life," he said. "I spend most of my free time at home because I like to be calm."
Juninho
Middlesbrough has been the home to a number of Brazilians in recent seasons but the favourite remains Juninho and Rochemback admits he is still held in very high regard. "He had his days here and he left with very good memories and was voted as one of their legends."
