Spurs head coach wants keeper to maintain current form
Juande Ramos has suggested form will dictate Paul Robinson's long-term future at Tottenham Hotspur.
Robinson's position as Spurs' No.1 has been placed in doubt this season after several mistakes for club and for England.
Reports over the weekend also claimed that former England coach Sven Goran Eriksson is considering a bid for the keeper in January.
But, after three clean sheets in Ramos' first four games at the helm, Robinson has been given the immediate backing of his new boss.
One of the best
"Paul is one of the best goalkeepers in England - he is the No.1 for England," said Ramos.
"If he keeps playing the way he is playing at the moment, of course I'm going to count on him and I'm going to keep him in mind."
Robinson was given the captain's armband when Robbie Keane was substituted in Sunday's 4-0 win over Wigan, leading to further praise from Ramos.
The Spurs head coach added: "I'm quite happy with him.
"In four matches he's been able to keep three clean sheets.
"One of the important things is he is one of the captains of the team and has been very good on and off the pitch, creating and building morale."
