English midfielder moves to Scotland from the States

St Mirren have confirmed the signing of Andy Dorman on an 18-month contract from New England Revolution. The Scottish Premier League strugglers are now waiting on international clearance before the player can officially join up with his new team-mates. Dorman's contract with the American side finishes at the end of December, and should clearance be granted in time he could make his debut for the club against Gretna on 2nd January. The midfielder, who was born in Chester and grew up in Wales, moved to the United States in 2000 and has been with the Revolution since 2004. St Mirren boss Gus MacPherson believes that the club have signed a quality player who will be able to help them out of their current precarious situation.

Box-to-box

"I'm glad to confirm that everything is now signed and sealed with Andy Dorman, he will be a St Mirren player in a few days' time," said the boss. "Andy has agreed to an 18-month contract with the option of a further year at the end of that. "All that needs to be concluded is international clearance, we have requested that and it is now in the hands of the MLS in the USA to push the clearance through. "We feel he is the type of player who will definitely strengthen our squad. He is a box-to-box style midfielder who can score goals, and technically he is very good."
