Best of the FA Cup

We look at the best and the worst of the action from this weekend's FA Cup - including team of the round!

Team of the weekend

Player of the Weekend

You could have taken your pick from the Barnsley side with captain Brian Howard a real contender with his winner at Anfield. But it goes to debutant goalkeeper Luke Steele. Signed on an emergency loan, the West Brom shot-stopper produced a string of stunning saves to keep Liverpool down to just one goal and allowed Barnsley to seal a memorable cup shock.

Goal of the Weekend

Wonderful strike from Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink as he helped Cardiff into the quarter-finals with victory over Wolves. Hasselbaink doubled Cardiff's lead on 11 minutes with a fine curling effort into the top right corner after Peter Whittingham had laid the ball back to him.

Shock of the Weekend

Barnsley's 2-1 win at Anfield was something that dreams are made of, and makes sure that the magic of the FA Cup continues to weave its spell over the English game.

Pass of the Weekend

Huddersfield can be mighty proud of their efforts against Chelsea and their equaliser at Stamford Bridge was full of class. Young midfielder James Berrett picked up the ball 25 yards out and he lobbed a beautiful pass over the Chelsea defence for Michael Collins, who finished with great aplomb.

Save of the Weekend

Barnsley's Luke Steele was the goalkeeping hero on Saturday, but Sunday saw David James at his best again for Portsmouth - this time at Preston. The England international firstly kept out Simon Whaley's penalty to keep the game scoreless before throwing himself at full stretch to his left later in the contest to deny Neil Mellor a certain goal. James' saves kept his side on level terms allowing Pompey to steal a late win in injury-time.

Gaffe of the Weekend

While Coventry keeper Andy Marshall gifted West Brom a second goal at The Ricoh on Saturday, Darren Carter's last-gasp own goal on Sunday allowed Portsmouth to progress to the fifth round of the FA Cup at the first attempt on Sunday. With a replay on the cards at Deepdale, Carter inadvertently hooked the ball into his own net with virtually the last kick of the game denying The Lilywhites a deserved replay against their Premier League opponents.

Moment of the Weekend

Frank Lampard was back to form with Chelsea as he helped them to victory over Huddersfield. But his first goal will live long in the memory as it was his 100th goal for the West London giants.
