First-team coach thrilled to be back on the training ground

Archie Knox has expressed his delight at being handed a coaching role at Blackburn. A former member of the backroom staff at Aberdeen, Rangers and Bolton, Knox was released by the Trotters at the end of last season. However, he has been handed an immediate route back into football by Rovers' new boss Paul Ince. The veteran coach has been impressed by what he has seen since arriving at Ewood Park and believes that he is joining an ambitious club who should have aspirations of challenging for European football next year. "I think they have a lot of good players here, a terrific squad of players, and I don't think it's a case of changing anything at all," he told Sky Sports News. "They just get on with what they've been doing in recent seasons. "It looks as though there's an excellent atmosphere about the place and it's a nice family club and I'm sure that these lads will be keen to try and equal, if not better, what they've achieved in previous seasons."

Arrivals

Knox admits that he expects new faces to arrive at Rovers in the coming weeks and is confident that they will be of a calibre which allows the club to move forward. "I think that is the case for every manager, no matter what league you're in, there's always going to be a turnaround of players," he added. "Especially these days when players don't last maybe 10 or 15 years at a club. "I would imagine that there will be a turnaround of players but I'm sure that we can attract a lot of good players here as well."
Atmosphere
Knox then went on to reveal his pleasure at being given the opportunity to get back on the training field so soon after his exit from Bolton. "There's nothing better," he said. "It's what I've been associated with all my life, getting out on the training pitch and working with the players. "It's a case when you get to this level of player, as long as you have a good atmosphere around training and everyone applies themselves, then we will get on great."
