Bale leads the way for PFA award

Tottenham winger Gareth Bale is the 4/9 favourite with Sky Bet to win the PFA Players' Player of the Year. The 21-year-old has enjoyed his best season yet, scoring 11 goals and receiving praise from pundits and players alike following impressive displays during Spurs' first season of Champions League football. Bale leads the betting ahead of Manchester City captain Carlos Tevez who is available at 5/1 and West Ham midfielder Scott Parker, 8/1, who has been credited with leading the Hammers' recent revival as they battle to avoid relegation. Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri is a 9/1 chance ahead of Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic (20/1), Tottenham playmaker Rafael Van der Vaart, 20/1 and Blackpool captain Charlie Adam who is a 25/1 chance. Sky Bet Football Trader Sandro Di Michele said: "It looks very difficult to see past Gareth Bale after the season he's had. "Both players and the media have praised him for his performances, especially his hat-trick against European champions Inter Milan." He added: "When it was voted for he was at the peak of his powers and he looks like a big favourite." The PFA Young Player of the Year was also announced at the same time, with Jack Wilshere favourite to pick up that gong. The Arsenal midfielder is 1/2 and leads the betting ahead of Bale (2/1), United starlet Javier Hernandez (6/1) and Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart who is 12/1. De Michele continued: "Despite Bale leading the senior award voting, Wilshere is our early favourite after we saw a lot of money for the Arsenal youngster."
