Shakers out after five-goal thriller

Accrington are through to the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Northern Section semi-final after Bobby Grant's late goal secured a 3-2 win over Bury. Stanley went ahead within two minutes when a John Miles corner was headed home by striker Symes at the near post and they doubled their lead after 40 minutes when Grant squared for Symes to tap home from two yards. But almost immediately Bury replied when, after a goalmouth scramble in the home area, the ball came out to Danny Racchi on the edge of the box and he curled it into the bottom of the net. And Alan Knill's men levelled three minutes after the restart when Stephen Dawson set up Michael Jones 18 yards out and he blasted the ball home. Grant should have put Stanley ahead after 66 minutes but goalkeeper Cameron Belford pulled off a stunning point-blank save to keep his side level. However, Grant made no mistake with eight minutes remaining when, with penalties looming, he got the ball from Jimmy Ryan's cross and rifled home the decider.
