Striker Billy Kee headed crisis-club Accrington to a much-needed win against rock-bottom Darlington.

Stanley strike late to take win

On-loan striker Billy Kee headed a late winner for Accrington Stanley as they beat Darlington 2-1 at the Crown Ground. The Northern Ireland marksman, on loan from Leicester City, scored with just seven minutes from Luke Joyce's cross to give the crisis club victory. It had looked like they had thrown it away in front of their biggest crowd of the season, 3228, supporting the club as they look to pay off a £300,000 tax bill by the end of October. Captain Andy Procter had headed them into a 21st-minute lead, slotting home John Miles' left-wing cross. They then hit the woodwork four times in a first half they dominated. However, they were made to pay on the hour when experienced Quakers striker Kevin Gall lobbed over Ian Dunbavin from 18 yards out. It looked like it would end as a draw before substitute Kee popped up with the winner. The win sees Accrington move to 13th, but Darlington remain bottom on just one point.
