Jimmy Ryan hit the post with a 25-yard thunderbolt and defender Edwards headed against the woodwork as they looked for a way back. But the visitors sealed the three points when sub Billy McKay collected the ball from an Andy Holt throw after 78 minutes and hammered it into the bottom of the net. Stanley had an opportunity to score a consolation at the death but Ryan fired a penalty wide.
