Oxford duo see off Shots

Oxford duo Robert Hall and Deane Smalley notched two quickfire second-half goals to beat Aldershot 2-1 in the JPT second round.
The strikes of West Ham loanee Hall, with his third goal in five games, and Smalley, with his first for the club, proved sufficient despite Danny Hylton's effort 14 minutes from time. In a scrappy first-half neither side were able to threaten with Damian Batt's flashing shot from the right the closest either came to a goal. But the game sparked into life after the break as youngster Hall broke down the left before firing in from the edge of the area on 49 minutes. And just three minutes later Smalley then finally showed why he was so highly-rated at Chesterfield as he turned away from Darren Jones' tackle before smashing home. With the game slipping away from the Shots with 14 minutes remaining, Alex Rodman's free-kick was headed in powerfully by Hylton, his eighth of the season, but it was too little too late.
