Abbott keeps Darlo's play-off dreams alive

Pawel Abbott's fourth goal of the season was enough to hand Darlington all three points at Barnet and keep their play-off hopes alive. The former Poland U21 international was on hand to turn the loose ball home from close range after 66 minutes after good work from Danny Carlton. Barnet had numerous chances to score but found Darlington keeper Andy Oakes in unstoppable form as he twice foiled ex-Chelsea forward Paul Furlong. It was Barnet who started the brighter and as early as the first minute Oakes was forced into action to block Albert Adomah's low cross. Clayton Fortune should have opened the scoring for the Quakers after 19 minutes but he somehow slashed his shot well wide from just five yards. Furlong then headed Nicky Deverdic's corner onto the crossbar but after the break Abbott struck against the run of play before a barrage of Bees pressure saw Oakes carried off and replaced by substitute keeper Przemyslaw Kazimierczak.
