Blackpool 4-2 Bolton (AET): First league cup win since 2009
Wednesday 10 August 2016 01:02, UK
Blackpool scored twice in extra-time to earn their first EFL Cup win since 2009 as Sky Bet League One Bolton were beaten 4-2 at Bloomfield Road.
The Tangerines looked like they might throw away the chance for their drought-breaking win when Bolton substitute Kaiyne Woolery sent the game into extra-time with a 90th-minute strike.
But Blackpool steadies as goals from Jim McAlister and John Herron confirmed they would go into the hat for the second-round draw.
Bolton had led deep into a see-sawing contest thanks to Jamie Proctor's close-range header just before half-time, before an entertaining final 16 minutes of normal time.
Kelvin Mellor and Brad Potts scored in quick succession to send Blackpool ahead before Woolery capitalised on a defensive error to round Sam Slocombe and force extra-time.
The Seasiders snatched the lead again after 110 minutes as they cut through Bolton and Herron squared for McAlister to slot home.
Herron then produced a stunning chipped finish to wrap up the win five minutes later.
