Marco Di Vaio scored a hat-trick as the hosts came from behind twice to defeat Torino 5-2 with five second-half goals.
Ignazio Abate put the visitors ahead after seven minutes, a lead that held until Sergio Volpi pulled Bologna even early in the second half.
Simone Barone then restored Torino's lead in the 53rd minute, but Di Vaio responded with two goals in eight minutes to put Bologna in front.
Marco Bernacci and Di Vaio then converted penalties to seal the win for Bologna, who moved up to 16th in Serie A, two points and two places above Torino, who now occupy the last relegation berth.
