Burnley boss Owen Coyle delivered an upbeat assessment after his side were held by Leicester.

Burnley boss Owen Coyle delivered an upbeat assessment after his side were pegged back to draw 1-1 at home to Leicester. David Unsworth fired home his first goal for the Clarets in the 19th minute with a neat left-foot finish to put Coyle on course for his third win in four games since taking the helm. But Iain Hume volleyed home at the far post with 12 minutes remaining to secure a barely-deserved point for Leicester. A series of missed second-half opportunities, with Kyle Lafferty and Andy Gray particularly culpable, meant Burnley could not build on victories at high-flying Watford and Charlton during the past week. "In the first half, particularly, we created chance after chance and should have put them to bed," admitted Coyle. "Their goalkeeper (Marton Fulop) was in inspired form but some of our play was terrific and those wins are just round the corner. "The fans stayed to the end and can see what we are trying to do. "Leicester had one shot on target and we were unfortunate not to get the win and are certainly moving in the right direction." Coyle has taken eight points in four unbeaten games since being appointed as successor to Steve Cotterill last month.

Mixed

Foxes counterpart Ian Holloway has endured a more mixed start to life at Leicester. The result at least allowed them to bounce back from a home defeat against Southampton at the weekend. And the former QPR and Plymouth boss admitted his side had scraped a point. "It didn't look like it was going to come after the first-half performance," said Holloway. "They did give us a mauling but in the second half at least they looked better. "It was disappointing to have given a goal away from a throw-in, but sometimes football is about character. "We bounced back and were left grateful to our goalkeeper, but we deserved it after the defeat at the weekend, which was down to a ludicrous decision. "Owen has got a big job to do like myself but I'm just delighted that we got a point. "To come away from home with a result after the mauling we got showed character and no mean skill."
