Doncaster eased into the third round of the JPT with a 3-0 win at Burton, who are without a win in the competition after six years.

The Brewers, who received a first-round bye, failed to recover after conceding first-half goals to Harry Forrester and Nathan Tyson. The League Two side had early chances but Alex MacDonald's fierce drive was beaten out by Rovers keeper Jed Steer before Dominic Knowles ballooned over from 18 yards. The visitors soon took control and went in front in the 33rd minute in a move started and finished by Forrester, who was able to fire home from 10 yards after Burton failed to clear James Coppinger's ball into the box. And former Trophy winners Rovers doubled their advantage three minutes before the break when Tyson stroked home his fifth goal of the season from the penalty spot after being upended by John Mousinho. Burton had chances to reduce the deficit in the second half but Jacob Blyth headed over from eight yards and then dragged a shot wide. Doncaster sealed their win with a superbly-worked goal by Richie Wellens in the 87th minute.
