      Last-gasp Blues hold Shakers

      Image: Lowe: Scored late leveller

Ten-man Bury saw their promotion bid dealt a blow as Chester scored a last-gasp equaliser.

Last-gasp Lowe scores to cancel Morrell opener

Ten-man Bury saw their promotion bid dealt a blow as Chester boosted their survival hopes with a last-gasp equaliser in a 1-1 draw. Bury should have taken an early lead as Andy Bishop had a header cleared off the line and from the resulting corner, Efe Sodje saw a volley well saved by Chester keeper John Danby. Sodje then headed onto the roof of the net from a Brian Barry-Murphy corner before Chester replied with Anthony Barry, James Vaughan and Ryan Lowe each firing off target from just outside the box. Both Lowe and Bishop sent 20-yard efforts wide after the half-hour mark before Bury broke the deadlock from Barry-Murphy's free-kick. Sodje sent a looping header towards the far post where Andy Morrell managed to force the ball past Danby. The game swung in Chester's favour moments after the restart as Ryan Cresswell was shown a straight red for tugging back Lowe from Dave Mannix's through-ball. Kevin Ellison and Laurence Wilson went closest as Chester pushed for a much-needed equaliser before Dawson's attempted clearance flashed off the near post with 10 minutes left. But Lowe struck at the death to stun the Shakers and send the away fans into raptures.
