Gutsy Bury came from behind to secure what could prove to be a very precious three points as they saw off mid-table Northampton 3-1.
Despite ongoing off-field issues, the Shakers' players again put in a terrific collective shift as they roared back into the automatic promotion places.
Shay Facey and former Bury midfielder David Buchanan had both gone close before the Cobblers took the lead in the 27th minute.
It was a straightforward effort as an unmarked Andy Williams easily headed in Sam Foley's cross.
The Shakers then levelled six minutes before the break, when Chris Stokes darted in to side-foot home Nicky Adams' precise cross.
Will Aimson headed straight at goalkeeper David Cornell as Bury almost struck again before the interval.
After Dom Telford had gone close, the hosts took the lead in the 65th minute, with midfielder Danny Mayor curling home superbly from 15 yards.
Nicky Maynard slid in Adams' cross deep in added time to wrap up a terrific victory for the Shakers, who now have a one-point cushion in the automatic spots with two games to go.
