Stokes set for bow, Ward to provide back-up for Wolves

Anthony Stokes is in line to make his Crystal Palace debut against leaders Wolves, who could have new signing Darren Ward on the bench. Palace have snapped up Stokes on loan from Sunderland for the rest of the season and the forward will be involved at Selhurst Park. Skipper Shaun Derry and centre-half Claude Davis missed Saturday's defeat at Watford with hamstring injuries and remain doubtful. Midfielder Nick Carle serves the second game of his three-match ban and full-back Danny Butterfield, who played the full 90 minutes at the weekend, has been loaned to Charlton for the rest of the season. Teenage forward Victor Moses remains sidelined with his hamstring injury and defender Paddy McCarthy is still recovering from shoulder surgery. James Scowcroft made a rare start at Vicarage Road as fellow striker Shefki Kuqi was visiting his ill father in Finland, while winger Sean Scannell could return to the squad after a virus.

Wolves news

Wolves are unlikely to start Ward at Selhurst Park after the experienced goalkeeper arrived on loan from Sunderland for the rest of the season. Carl Ikeme is out for a few more weeks with a back injury, so Ward is likely to compete with Shane Higgs for a place on the bench with Wayne Hennessey keeping hold of the No.1 jersey. Captain Karl Henry will be included, but his booking in Saturday's 1-0 Championship defeat at home by Plymouth, his 10th of the season, has ruled him out of the subsequent games against Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich. Left-back Stephen Ward is a doubt having taken a knock to a knee against the Pilgrims, as is winger Matt Jarvis as he struggles to overcome an infected blister on his foot. David Jones will definitely miss out with a patella tendon problem while fellow midfielder Nigel Quashie has only returned to training at the start of this week following a virus and is not match fit. Goalkeeper Matt Murray and defender George Elokobi (both knee) are long-term absentees.
