Cambridge extended their unbeaten home run to five games after holding out for a 0-0 draw with Shrewsbury on Saturday.

Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro missed a glaring first-half chance for the visitors when he failed to test goalkeeper Chris Dunn when allowed to stride forward unchallenged by a faulty Cambridge offside trap 10 minutes before the interval. He had earlier fired just off target from a tight angle after outmuscling Richard Tait. Kwesi Appiah came closest for Cambridge, seeing Mark Ellis block his goal-bound effort following Ryan Bird's knock down into his path. James Collins had headed Liam Lawrence's free-kick over when well placed for the Shrews at the end of the half. Bobby Grant forced Dunn into a good save eight minutes into the second half having cut inside Tait and firing low towards the near post, while Nathaniel Knight-Percival headed a corner onto the crossbar in the 59th minute. Grant left fly from outside the box moments later and also hit the woodwork, before being denied in injury time by an excellent Dunn save.
