Cook leaves Shakers shaken

On-loan Sunderland youngster Jordan Cook stepped off the bench to help fire Carlisle to a 4-1 win over 10-man Bury at Brunton Park.

Giles Coke gave Bury the lead in the 23rd minute, shooting home from 12 yards after good work on the left involving ex-Carlisle loanee Mike Grella. But Carlisle were level two minutes later when Lee Miller laid the ball on to Liam Noble, who crashed a 25-yard shot past Bury goalkeeper Trevor Carson. The game looked to be heading for a second-half stalemate until substitute Cook replaced Tom Taiwo in the 74th minute, but four minutes later the Sunderland forward robbed Bury skipper Phil Picken before striding through and slipping the ball past Carson. Miller lashed home a spot-kick, after Cook had been pushed in the box, before Bury had Peter Sweeney dismissed for violent conduct after clashing with Francois Zoko. Miller completed the scoring deep into injury time when he banged the ball home from 10 yards.
