Five-star Robins punish Bury

Cheltenham dented Bury's promotion hopes on the way to chalking up their third win in a week.

Low at the double to boost Cheltenham's survival chances

Cheltenham dealt Bury's promotion hopes a blow on the way to chalking up a third win in seven days after a 5-2 hammering at Whaddon Road. The Robins' five-star display began in the 37th minute when Justin Richards won and converted a penalty which saw Bury goalkeeper Wayne Brown dismissed for bringing down the striker. The Robins reeled off two quick goals after the break with Matt Thornhill gliding into the box to fire home Josh Low's cross from the right in the 46th minutes. Low added a third five minutes later with a cross-shot from the right that dropped over substitute keeper Cameron Belford. Plucky Bury staged a late comeback with Ryan Lowe scoring two goals in two minutes. His first was from the spot after Lee Ridley had brought down substitute Andy Morrell. Ridley then made another mistake allowing Lowe to round keeper Scott Brown and claim his 16th goal of the season. But a brilliant solo run from Low eased Robins nerves with a fourth goal on 83 minutes and Low then set up substitute Barry Hayles who slotted home from close range.
