Colchester and Leicester played out a 1-1 draw in the late game in the Championship. Collins John gave Leicester the best possible start, but Johnnie Jackson equalised for the home side with a header just before half-time.

Leicester were ahead inside six minutes when DJ Campbell set up John who beat Dean Gerken from 12 yards out. John almost got in for his second midway through the first-half following Alan Sheehan's pass, but Matthew Connolly recovered to clear the danger. Colchester managed to draw level on the stroke of half-time as Jackson headed home Mark Yeates' weighted cross.

Leicester defender Richard Stearman whistled a shot past the post in the second-half, before Matt Fryatt's shot was well saved by Gerken. The visitors almost won it in the 87th minute, but free-kick specialist Sheehan sent his effort the wrong side of the post.
