League Two leaders Crewe got a rude awakening as Swindon cantered to a 3-0 win at the Mornflake Stadium.

First-half goals from Gavin Kilkenny, Paul Glatzel and Aaron Drinan cemented the Robins' first-half superiority.

It was one-way traffic by and large after Kilkenny's deflected strike put Swindon ahead in the eighth minute. Crewe defenders backed off to allow the midfielder time to drive an effort into the far corner.

Connor Ripley preserved the lead by tipping over Reece Hutchinson's effort and turning around a low drive from Mickey Demetriou.

Glatzel doubled the lead when seizing on a mistake by goalkeeper Tom Booth, who failed to get a lofted backpass under control and was robbed by the striker who finished into an empty net 10 minutes before the break.

The rampant Robins cut their hosts apart for their third with a swift break ruthlessly punished by Drinan who swept home Darren Oldaker's pass from just outside the box in the 41st minute.

Glatzel clipped a shot wide and Drinan glanced the post as Swindon threatened more.

New recruit Ollie Palmer was close to getting on the scoresheet in the closing minutes, but was denied by Booth.
