Dagers brush aside Bees at home
Dagenham booked their place in the second round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy after a 4-2 win at home to Barnet.
The Daggers took the lead after four minutes when Glen Southam released Mark Nwokeji and after his shot was parried, Paul Benson slid the rebound home.
Barnet were level within two minutes as Cliff Akurang set up Adam Birchall and he coolly beat Ed Thompson from close range.
The Bees edged ahead after 16 minutes when a delicious cross from Ashley Carew was headed home by Birchall for his second of the game.
The goals kept on flying in and striker Mark Nwokeji made it 2-2, netting from close range after Richard Graham's cross was missed by Aswad Thomas. Benson made it 3-2 before the break with a sweet lob over Ran Kadoch after the linesman kept his flag down, much to the disgust of the Bees players.
The action tailed off in the second half as both teams looked for an opening, the Daggers handing a debut to substitute midfielder Peggy Lokando following his signing from Southend. And they put the game beyond doubt 15 minutes from time when Jon Nurse was clipped in the box by Thomas and Southam slotted home the spot kick.
