Paul Benson fired a hat-trick as majestic Dagenham handed out a 6-1 thrashing to luckless Notts County. The striker intercepted Richard Butcher's backpass and rounded Russell Hoult in the 35th minute. And he doubled his tally when he tapped home Sam Saunders corner (49), before he headed another Saunders set-piece past goalkeeper Hoult in the final minute. It was all Daggers after Matt Ritchie volleyed them in front on nine minutes and Ben Strevens hooked home a second in the 24th minute of a one-sided first half. Dagenham defender Magnus Okuonghae also got in on the act when he headed home a Saunders free-kick on the hour mark. County were left to rue Jonathan Forte's disallowed goal at 1-0 when the referee called for a foul on the striker. But Barbados international Forte did grab a late consolation for the visitors when he pushed the ball past goalkeeper Tony Roberts in the 86th minute.
