Oxford United comfortably progressed into the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Southern Area semi-finals with a routine 2-0 win at Dagenham & Redbridge.

The Yellows made a fantastic start as Danny Hylton got in down the right and crossed in for Pat Hoban to score the opener after just 27 seconds of play.

Dagenham looked to find a response and Ashley Chambers had a free-kick deflected wide in the 11th minute.

Chambers was involved again in the 24th minute as he tested Benjamin Buchel from range before Josh Passley crossed to Ashley Hemmings at the back post. He cut inside, but the Oxford goalkeeper managed to deflect the effort wide of goal.

It remained 1-0 at the break and the Yellows only needed just over a minute this time to score again at the beginning of the second half as Alex MacDonald's effort from outside the area found the net after Daggers failed to clear a corner.

Matt McClure had an effort cleared off the line for the hosts shortly after that, but Wayne Burnett's men couldn't find a way back into the game and exited the competition.
