Darlington twice came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw which dents Bury's hopes of automatic promotion. Bury wasted no time in getting on top of a Darlington side down to the bare bones and with 16-year-old striker Curtis Main in attack. The visitors went ahead after nine minutes when Glynn Hurst's drive took a big deflection off Darlington defender Ian Miller to fly into the net. But the home side gradually found their feet and were level after 38 minutes when Jason Kennedy headed home Franz Burgmeier's cross after a well-worked corner. However Bury were back in front after 63 minutes when Efe Sodje was left unmarked to power home a corner from Brian Barry-Murphy. Darlington's luck was out when Rob Purdie's shot from Burgmeier's cross was deflected narrowly wide, before Przemyslaw Kazimierczak made a fine save to keep out Sodje's close-range header. And it proved vital as Pawel Abbott fired Darlington level for the second time after 73 minutes, scooping home Main's pass at the second attempt.
