      Gareth Evans grabbed a goal in each half as Macclesfield claimed a 2-1 victory at Darlington. The 20-year-old forward opened the scoring in the 39th minute, latching onto a neat ball from Emile Sinclair before firing a left-footed volley into the far corner. Jason Kennedy wasted a good chance to bring the Quakers level six minutes after the break when he fired straight at goalkeeper Jon Brain. Darlington did pull level on the hour mark when Brain and team-mate Sean Hessey got in each other's way and David Poole turned the loose ball home from 12 yards. However, Macclesfield were not to be denied victory and Evans put them back ahead six minutes later. Darlington substitute Clayton Fortune was adjudged to have fouled Sinclair in the area and Evans sent goalkeeper Andy Oakes the wrong way with the resulting spot-kick.
