Eibar took yet another step towards Primera Division safety by beating Getafe 2-1 to record their second win of 2015.

Manu del Moral provided the finishing touch to a chipped free-kick to put the hosts ahead just after half an hour and Ander Capa doubled the lead early in the second period.

Substitute Diego Castro's impressive strike made for a tense final 10 minutes but the resilient Basques held on for the victory and move on to 26 points to remain eighth in the table.

Returning Getafe boss Quique Sanchez Flores, meanwhile, is set for a long five months after replacing Cosmin Contra as coach as his team are just three points clear of the relegation zone.

Eibar coach Gaizka Garitano stuck by his vow to start Raul Albentosa, even though the defender is reported to be on the verge of a move to Derby, and left captain Mikel Arruabarrena on the bench, keeping faith with Del Moral and Federico Piovaccari up front.

The first chance of the game fell to the Italian forward with just a few minutes on the clock but the 30-year-old was unable to react in time when the ball rebounded off a Getafe defender and to his feet just a few yards from goal, instead shooting wide of the near post.

The next opportunity for the hosts fell to Eneko Boveda, who used control and strength to hold on to the ball despite pressure from four Getafe defenders in the box, but when he eventually chose to shoot the ball was blocked by Emiliano Velazquez.

The hosts broke the deadlock thanks to an enterprising free-kick routine. Dani Garcia trumped the Getafe defence by feigning to cross to the far post but instead chipping the ball forwards to Del Moral, who raised his foot to volley into the roof of the net.

It was the second goal in as many games for the 30-year-old, who celebrated the strike against his former club modestly.

Getafe were short on ideas and the closest they came to scoring in the first half was from a wildly ambitious effort from Fredy Hinestroza from a near impossible angle which was turned around the near post by Xabi Irureta.

The hosts extended their lead five minutes into the break. Piovaccari put in a cross from the left wing which Capa struggled to control, but the ball bobbled back into the path of the midfielder, who made the most of his second chance and arrowed into the bottom corner.

Castro arrowed the ball into the top corner at the other end nine minutes after replacing Hinestroza, but his side showed little sign that they were capable of finding an equaliser.
