Wes Thomas scored his second goal in three games to send Bournemouth on their way to a 2-0 win at troubled Exeter.
The striker grabbed the opener seven minutes before the interval when he curled an exquisite effort into the top corner. Bournemouth rubbed salt into City's wounds in the 90th minute when Steve Tully cleared Scott Malone's shot off the line, only for the ball to rebound off Richard Duffy and into the back of the net. The Cherries squandered two glorious opportunities to take the lead in the space of 30 first-half seconds. Thomas poked wide of a gaping goal following some nifty footwork from Arter. Moments later Malone jinked his way into the City box and squared for Marc Pugh, who sliced the ball wide when he looked destined to score. But Thomas atoned for his teammates' profligacy in superb fashion. Exeter came close to salvaging an equaliser six minutes from time when substitute Richard Logan hit the post with a close-range effort before Duffy's own goal settled the contest.
