Matty Taylor came off the bench to inspire a late victory as he claimed a goal and an assist in Swindon's 2-0 win at Forest Green on Friday night.
The veteran, introduced as a makeshift left-back in the 77th minute of the Sky Bet League Two clash at the New Lawn, saw his corner turned home by captain Olly Lancashire before sealing the win himself in stoppage time.
Swindon got off to the brighter start and their in-form man Luke Norris had a great chance to open the scoring after 12 minutes when a corner fell to him at the far post, but a superb last-ditch block from Mark Roberts denied him.
Forest Green went on to dominate possession for most of the half but it was always the away side that looked more threatening. Swindon had two decent penalty shouts in the first 45 minutes as both Norris and Keshi Anderson appeared to be bundled over off-the-ball in the box, but both incidents appeared to be missed by the officials.
Norris was also presented with a glorious opportunity again early on in the second half as Forest Green gave the ball away cheaply, but goalkeeper Bradley Collins denied him one-on-one. A third great chance was missed by the striker on the hour as he fired just wide from inside the box.
The game appeared to be heading for a stalemate until Taylor's introduction for an injured Chris Hussey, as Lancashire turned home his corner from virtually on the line before Taylor's shot in the 91st minute found its way past Collins in the Forest Green goal.
Mark Cooper: "There wasn't a lot in the game. There wasn't a lot of goalmouth action but that's been the story for us so far. A little bit of pressure comes and we cave in. We have to be better under pressure and we can't just give away goals like that.
"It's about being mentally strong individually and making sure your man doesn't score. Because there wasn't a lot between the teams tonight."
David Flitcroft: "They had a lot of possession in the first half but that didn't worry us. Our structure was good and in the first half we created the most clear-cut chances that we should have taken.
"But I said to the lads at half-time that it might be 15-20 minutes and they'd start tiring. And when [Drissa] Traore went off I felt they lost that influence in the middle, and then our power and presence took over."
Forest Green travel to Cambridge in Sky Bet League Two on Tuesday night, while Swindon host Coventry.
