Dons comeback stuns Gills

Image: Midson: Netted a vital brace

Jack Midson bagged a late double as AFC Wimbledon twice fought back from two goals down to grab a 4-3 victory at Gillingham.

Gavin Tomlin scored two and made one on his home debut for the Gills but Midson went on to equalise from the penalty spot in the 80th minute before grabbing the winner with a minute remaining. On-loan Dagenham striker Tomlin opened his account for his hometown club after just four minutes when he finished smartly from Danny Jackman's diagonal ball, with the hosts holding the lead going into the break. Tomlin then turned provider early in the second half when he slipped in Jo Kuffour, who lashed home past the onrushing Seb Brown. Luke Moore reduced the deficit after 60 minutes following great work by George Moncur but Tomlin immediately restored the two-goal advantage when he headed in Kuffour's cross. But it all went wrong for the Kent side when the visitors' well-worked short corner routine saw Garry Richards put the ball in his own net before Matt Lawrence conceded a penalty which Midson stuck away. And there was worse to come for the hosts when a well-worked move resulted in Midson's effort deflecting off Joe Martin and past Ross Flitney in the 89th minute.
