First-half goals from strike partners Adam Miller and Simeon Jackson earned Gillingham their seventh home win of the season in a 2-1 victory over Chesterfield.
The Gills were good value for their two-goal lead at the break but they eased off the pace in the second period with Jack Lester getting one back for Chesterfield and Simon Royce making a string of fine saves.
Chesterfield went close in the 12th minute when Lester's curling shot clipped the outside of a post.
But the Gills went ahead six minutes later when Andy Barcham turned Phil Picken and drilled a cross into the box for Miller to convert from six yards.
Jackson added a second on the stroke of half-time when he latched onto Miller's flick and clipped the ball over the advancing Trevor Carson for his ninth goal of the season.
But the Spireites were back in the match on the hour when Currie's cross was hammered in by Lester. Royce secured the points for the hosts brilliantly keeping out a Lester strike in the closing stages.
