Winger's hat-trick secures first success on the road for Chester
A brilliant Kevin Ellison hat-trick brought Chester their first away win of the season with a 3-1 success at Grimsby.
The winger struck after three, 77 and 86 minutes against a Grimsby side who replied through Danny North just after half-time but also missed a penalty.
Ellison picked up a flick from Ryan Lowe on the halfway line and held off a challenge from centre-back Matt Heywood in a 40-yard run that took him into the box. He then coolly side-footed past keeper Phil Barnes.
Mariners substitute North levelled when he swept home from close range after James Hunt had headed through.
Ellison fired home a 25-yard free-kick into the top corner to restore Chester's lead and then curled home a brilliant left-foot shot to complete his hat-trick.
Danny Boshell won a late penalty after being brought down by Stephen Vaughan but the midfielder then fired the spot-kick wide.
