Dougie Imrie's fifth goal in eight games grabbed a point for Hamilton as they drew 1-1 with Aberdeen at New Douglas Park.

The striker fired into an empty net on 69 minutes after Dons goalkeeper Danny Ward had parried Gramoz Kurtaj's effort into his path.

The visitors took the lead in only the fourth minute when Kenny McLean smashed home Niall McGinn's cross via the crossbar, and they could have had a winner at the death when Jonny Hayes chipped against the bar.

But the late leveller moves Hamilton, who sported the France away strip in honour of those killed in the Paris terror attacks last week, into the Scottish Premiership's top six.

A kit clash gave Hamilton the chance to "think outside the box", according to a club statement, and the club did excellently to acquire 20 all-white France strips and label them up with badges and sponsors before kick-off.

But it could not stop Aberdeen, playing in their all-red home strip, from taking an early lead and dominating the first 20 minutes of play.

McLean almost had a second before the break when he attempted to curl the ball into the far corner, only to be denied by the fingertips of 'keeper Michael McGovern.

Hayes had two efforts on goal before the hour-mark for the Dons, while Alejandro D'Acol forced Ward to save as Accies took control of the second half, but Ward could not keep hold of Kurtaj's effort that led to the equaliser.

Hamilton's Brazilian midfielder Lucas headed over the bar late on, but Aberdeen remain third with a point.
