Callum Robinson hit a hat-trick as Preston North End lined up a second-round clash with Walsall or Shrewsbury after seeing off nine-man Havant and Waterlooville 3-0 in the FA Cup on Monday night.

Simon Grayson's League One promotion hopefuls brushed aside their Conference South opposition with a minimum of fuss courtesy of three goals from the highly-rated Aston Villa forward.

Robinson, 19, fired the visitors ahead with just seven minutes on the clock and from there on in it was plain sailing for Grayson's men.

The youngster was picked out after making a good run down the left and he advanced into the area before whipping a low shot in at the near post to leave Havant keeper Ryan Young red faced.

Preston doubled their lead on the half-hour mark when the impressive Paul Gallagher’s skill on the right made enough space for the cross and his ball in at the near post was volleyed home by Robinson for his second of the game.

JJ Hooper should have reduced the arrears moments later when he found himself in a good shooting position on the angle, but he got his finish across the goal horribly wrong and Preston cleared the danger.

The non-league team's predicament got even worse on the hour mark when former Doncaster midfielder Brian Stock was red carded for his second bookable offence.

Robinson grabbed his hat-trick from the penalty spot on 81 minutes after Warren Cummings was sent off for handling his shot on the line and the young striker tucked away the resulting penalty to make it 3-0 to end Havant and Waterlooville's FA Cup adventure.
