Bundesliga: Both Hertha Berlin and Cologne appeared happy with a goalless draw

Hertha Berlin and Cologne took a point each from their clash at the Olympiastadion with the goalless draw seemingly satisfying both sides.

In a slow-paced, even encounter, it was evident that a point was all that either side really wanted to ease their relegation fears and not see their opponents pull clear in the Bundesliga.

Indeed, with the three sides below them in the table and in action on Saturday all losing, the draw gives them both a comfortable seven-point cushion over the relegation zone with five games of the season remaining.

Hertha were surprisingly defensive inside their own stadium, not looking particularly keen to attack but happy enough to let their guests take the initiative.

The Billy Goats did not appear all that ambitious either as the two sides sparred without doing any damage.

A Sebastian Langkamp header gave Timo Horn some work to do in the Cologne goal before Per Skjelbred missed the target.

Cologne's best chance of the first half came just before its conclusion when Dominic Maroh sent his close-range header just over and onto the roof of the net.

Genki Haraguchi had a good chance on the hour mark as the hosts started to take the game to their guests and search with a little more urgency for a goal.

Their positive phase did not last long, though, with an Anthony Ujah effort at the other end, which was saved by Thomas Kraft, causing them some concern and making them retreat once again, holding on to a draw which did no damage to either side, and probably helped them put the relegation battle behind them.
