Huddersfield go third after Williams secures fifth straight win
Robbie Williams scored a stunning winner as Huddersfield came from behind to beat Hartlepool 2-1.
The left-back pounced on a loose ball in midfield in the 66th minute and jinked past three visiting defenders before curling in a 20-yard right-footer.
That was Williams' third goal in four games and was enough to secure a fifth straight win for the Terriers, which took them above Colchester, Norwich and MK Dons into third place.
Mid-table Pools came into the game on the back of a five-match unbeaten run and took the lead in the 18th minute when defender Gary Liddle scored his first goal of the season, powerfully heading home from a Neil Austin free-kick.
Domination
The visitors dominated the first half and they were only denied a second goal when Peter Clarke cleared Adam Boyd's goal-bound shot off the line.
But the Terriers responded with a commanding performance after the break.
They drew level as Anthony Pilkington thrashed a 30-yard free-kick against a post and the ball rebounded into the net off Hartley under pressure from Nat Clarke and Gary Roberts.
Pilkington rattled the bar with another free-kick and substitute Theo Robinson missed an open goal before Williams won it with his superb solo effort.
