Cuellar and Boyd see off Killie

Rangers restored their four-point lead at the top of the SPL with a comfortable 2-0 win at Kilmarnock. Goals in each half from Carlos Cuellar and Kris Boyd were enough to give Walter Smith's men the win and keep them on course for the title. Rangers should have broken the deadlock after just two minutes when Jean-Claude Darcheville raced clear from Boyd's flick-on only for the Frenchman to lob his shot over the crossbar.

Opener

The visitors went in front on 25 minutes when Cuellar headed over Alan Combe and into the net after Barry Ferguson had headed the ball into the path of the Spaniard. Darcheville wasted another great opening three minutes before the break when he beat Simon Ford to go clear on goal only to drag his shot wide of the target. Allan Johnston came close to drawing Killie level on the hour mark when his powerful drive was headed off the line by Sasa Papac. Rangers made the game safe three minutes later when former Killie striker Boyd scored from the spot after Jamie Hamill handled Lee McCulloch's cross inside the box. Killie substitute David Fernandez missed a great chance to pull a goal back five minutes from time when he rounded Allan McGregor only to pull his shot across the face of goal.
