In-form Leyton Orient thrashed Bristol Rovers 5-0 to make it ten points from four games and continue their climb away from the drop zone. The home side had much the better of the first half and went ahead when captain and full-back Stephen Purches advanced down the right and his shot took a significant deflection off Byron Anthony to elude keeper Mikkel Andersen after 26 minutes. Rovers' only threat before the break came from midfielder Wayne Brown, making his debut on loan from Fulham, but his shot went straight to Orient keeper Jamie Jones. Orient went two up six minutes after the break when Rovers failed to clear a cross from the right and striker Ryan Jarvis fired home a low drive. A foul by Rovers' defender Danny Coles was punished with a penalty after 62 minutes and Scott McGleish added Orient's third, although the goal was accredited against Andersen as the ball rebounded off the post and in off the back of his head. Jason Demetriou was left totally unmarked to escape on a 45-yard run and beat Andersen in a one-on-one after 71 minutes, before sub Jonathan Tehoue met Sean Thornton's 89th-minute free-kick to complete the rout.
